The mother of all flower orders

Posted by: Jackie – Voice at the end of the phone on June 1st, 2007

Our biggest personal order to date! If anyone wants to make a really romantic gesture they will have to go a very long way to beat this one. Our customer (we’ll call him Mr D) phoned wanting to make a dramatic gesture for a girl who was leaving the UK to travel. What started as a lovely idea of a few dozen red roses ended up as a massive order of 289 roses (partly because our flowers are such good value, so Mr D, rather than save money, decided to just buy lots more roses to make the gesture even more breathtaking - end of sales pitch!).

After much discussion with our buyer, Ronald, the roses were bought directly on the Dutch auction at the crack of dawn, arriving with us overnight and being arranged and delivered the next day. So from grower to customer in less than 36 hours! You really can’t get much fresher flowers than that.

The red roses in question were our Grand Prix roses which stand at nearly a metre tall. They are absolutely stunning and are found in several of our popular rose bouquets and arrangements, such as our two dozen red roses vase arrangement. 288 red roses were arranged into 12 vases, each vase with 2 dozen roses in, with a single red rose in another vase. It was amazing to see what looked like a sea of roses gradually developing as the florists worked happily on them (the florists love big orders like this, as they can really have fun creatively).

Mr D requested that our driver arrive at the house clutching just the single red rose in a vase and give it to the recipient and turn away. He then had to pretend to remember something and say, ‘Oh yes, and there’s something else for you…’ and take the recipient to the van to find it absolutely full to bursting with more red roses. Photos could never fully capture the impact of so many beautiful roses all together and nor could they convey the gorgeous scent. But the impression they made on us, even though we we knew all about the surprise, was amazing, so it must have been simply overwhelming for Mr D’s lucky recipient.

Grand Prix Roses on their way!

We are now waiting for another customer to make a similar gesture - it was such fun! Any volunteers??
