Is Flowers HQ OK?!
Had an email from friend of Arena, Dan Wilson, about an hour ago. Dan lives in Battersea and was asking if Arena is okay or if we were on fire. By way of explanation, he attached the following picture taken from Battersea, pointing towards Park Royal (the location of Flowers HQ):
Having first checked that we weren’t ablaze and we simply hadn’t noticed (unlikely I know, but we do love working with our flowers and sometimes forget the outside world even exists), we then headed out to investigate and saw a massive plume of smoke filling the sky. Here’s the view from our office a few minutes ago:
It seemed that a business very near us was on fire. We realised it must be near another friend of Arena, Christian Braun of Auctioning4u. I dropped him an email asking if everything was alright at his office and he responded telling me that Auctioning4u has all the tools it needs to take care of such eventualities:
After further investigation, it turns out that the building that is (still, at time of writing) ablaze, is the one next to the outlet that supplies some of our drinks, including our vintage Dom Perignon. Given the large amounts of flammable alcohol that they have on site, it must have been a fairly nervous few minutes at the drinks depot when they saw the flames shooting up. Fortunately, the 15 fire engines and 75 fire fighters on the scene are doing a grand job, things are under control and future supplies of Bombay Sapphire gin, Smirnoff vodka, Baileys Irish Cream and the all important Dom Perignon are safeguarded, thank goodness!
Anyway, we really hope that nothing untoward has happened, that it’s all sorted out soon and everyone can get back to business.
