Wining and Dining…Well, less of the dining

Posted by: Ellis - Deal Maker on November 9th, 2007

WineThe other day, we were visited by Donatella from Ethical Edibles who was carrying a rucksack full of wine! Oh Joy! But there was a serious side to the visit as I shall explain…

I had originally met Donatella at the ABN World Environment Day trade show and have been in discussions ever since. Ethical Edibles import a range of fine wines and produce from the very best estates in Italy – all of the very best quality and of impeccable ethical standing. Recently, Will has been making noises about a wider range of wines on ArenaFlowers.com, so I saw the perfect opportunity to arrange a bit of wine tasting.

Wine & MugsDonatella arrived in the early afternoon with a fantastic array of wines - two sweet desert wines, two sparkling whites and 6 reds. And of course a wonderful pesto to clean the pallet and some cherry conserve (225grammes of fruit to 100 grammes of jam!). Unfortunately, the wine tasting facilties at Flowers HQ are somewhat lacking, so we relied on a mixture of mugs and glasses and a rather large bucket as a spitoon but we were not deterred. After several hours of tasting, re-tasting and tasting some more, we were confident that we’d found some excellent new wine for our selection. Watch this space for your chance to join our wine club and buy our favourites!

So don’t let anyone tell you that at Arena Flowers don’t take our job seriously – it’s just that some jobs are a bit more fun than others! Its just a real shame that I was driving (well riding a motorbike in fact) so I really was just tasting :(
