Flowers…Uncut has a voice!!!
Our constant scouting for SEO related tips and articles on the Web has led us to experiment with many Widgets on our blog. People who follow our blog closely would have noticed the nonstop activity on the Widget Columns. Just like we bring flowers to customers instead of bringing customers to our flowers, we strive to bring the blog to our readers rather than bringing readers to our blog. All of our widget experiments are directed to develop a community of flower lovers & enthusiasts who log on for upto date information on behind the scenes activities at the Flowers HQ.
The Web 2.0 has brought tremendous opportunities to ease our efforts in building such a community and social media has become a viable option to increase our brand awareness. Moreover, many of these widgets, on occasions, can provide a tiniest bit of increment to our rankings on Google, so they say! Then it gives us a sound reason to install these widgets, much to Henry’s (Our Blog Technology Officer) displeasure. When we stumbled upon this incredible site which converts text content to voice, we signed up immediately to distribute our posts through Podcasts.
While the Podcasts does not sound natural, the language is discernible and makes it a bit of fun listening while looking at the flashy images we include on our posts to retain reader attention. One problem though!?! Jackie wouldn’t be happy listening to an automated man’s voice to her posts. Sorry Jackie, until you make an exception of reading and recording your posts, just like your recorded answer phone messages for our old telecom setup, this is the way it is!!!
If you are busy with no time to spare to read our blog and missing a great deal of information on what happens at the flowers HQ, you can now plug in to your MP3 players and listen to our Podcasts on the move. But mind you, our bloggers don’t sound the same!
Don’t forget to download our Podcasts from here.
Watchout for the shiny new icon titled ‘Listen Now’ on all posts and SUBSCRIBE to our Podcasts today!

I wouldn’t listen to a text to speech robot either.
I’d rather hear you guys do a proper podcast instead. Although I suppose if people are listening to the robot then its worth doing.
Adrian,
Many thanks for the comments. I agree with you, a proper Podcast would entice more listeners than a automated voice. But then, we would like to see if there are any subscribers to our Podcast to consider a proper Podcast.
False metric.
You might not get any listeners to the robocast as people don’t like the automated voice.
Still, it’s worth leaving it there and seeing what happens.
My view on this is that it’s more of an accessibility thing. Some people find small text hard to read. They may find this useful. It’s also just a bit of fun. We’ll keep you posted on what happens.
That’s a fair point, but people who can’t read text will probably have their own screen readers.
RIP Odiogo…it had to load in a sound file for every blog on the site when the blog loaded, really slowing it down. And it only read each post up to the “Read more” bit which is fairly useless. So, comedy novelty toy is no more. Long live reading for oneself.
Good idea re doing some videos though. Reckon we might put some up, maybe a “How to make a dozen red roses…Arena style!”.
:)
