Brides look stunning in the winter, it's a trick of the light I'm sure, as all brides have a radiance all of their own. We are always being asked about winter flowers - so your article is just what we needed to read. The most popular winter flowers for our brides are amarylis, cymbidiums and gerbers.

Hi Jo,

Both holly and mistletoe are available in November and would look stunning with white roses. Both can be sourced from the flower markets in Holland and any UK florist would be able to get them for you. Why not think of adding some ivy as foliage? It traditionally goes very well with holly and is a beautiful addition to winter wedding flowers.

I hope this helps.

Hi - I'm getting married on 27 Nov and am very keen on using holly in my table decorations. I was thinking of teaming the holly with small white roses or perhaps mistletoe berries - will mistletoe with berries be in season in Nov? Do you have any ideas on where I might source it? Any advice (or alternative ideas) gratefully accepted!
Thanks, Jo

Hi Ana

A wedding; what a lovely start to a new year. And even in winter there are so many flowers to choose from that you will be spoilt for choice.

Our wedding florists suggests that for the green in your bouquet you choose from bright green hypericum berries, green carnations, large green chrysanthemum blooms, smaller green spray chrysanthemums or, if you have a taste for the exotic, then the wonderful anthuriums – either ‘Midori’ or ‘Pistache’ – both of which are a vivid green.

There are no truly beige-coloured flowers but, to harmonise with beige, we would suggest either ‘Vendela’ or ‘Artemis’ roses – both of which are a beautiful cream or you could use our ‘Talea+’ roses which are a warmer peach colour. If you wanted to have some nearly beige flowers in your bouquet then the mini gerbera ‘Café’ is gorgeous. There is also a lovely cream lisianthus which you could mix in with some cream spray roses; ‘White Lydia’ are particularly pretty.

I hope this helps to give you some ideas to make your bouquet absolutely perfect.

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding Camille!
White is the perfect canvas for winter colours, and we'd recommend peach roses to compliment your beige/white theme, perhaps mixed with crisp white calla lilies and eucalyptus foliage for that silvery effect. If available, consider white hydrangea, which will combine well with roses; and experiment with silver-dusted thistles in your decor for that added touch of sparkle...

I'm getting married the first week of January in LA, with my colors being mostly white with beige and light silver accents. I just want it to be really classic looking. Any ideas for flowers without making EVERYTHING look white?

Hi Annmarie!

First-off, congratulations on your forthcoming wedding. You're on the right track by considering your wedding flowers in good time for your December wedding - a month that can be hectic with Christmas festivities and chores!

Our wedding florists recommend Aconitum or Agapanthus, white Roses, White Anemone, White Anthurium, Bouvardia, or even big spiky white Chrysanthemum blooms (such as 'Anastasia'). For a touch of colour, there are varieties of blue Delphinium and Hyacinth available in the winter, which will compliment white Lisianthus, Freesias and Gerbera. For added sparkle, metallic touches can be added to sea holly or twigs.

I hope this has been of some inspiration for you - and good luck with planning your wedding flowers!
