RUDBECKA
Named after a Swedish botanist, Olaus Rudbeck (1660-1740), a mentor of Carl Linnaeus, who was the pioneer in identifying plants with either a Greek or Latin genus. Its common name is coneflower but other related species have this name also such as Echinacea purpurea or purple coneflower. Similar to Rudbeckia with a domed centre but its petals' colours are purple and white.
The Rudbecka is a large yellow daisy-like flower head with a domed centre. It originates from North America, as is from the Asteraceae family and is available all year round.
The rudbeckia hirta (Black-eyed Susan) has a noticeable dark centre surrounded by bright yellow ray florets.
