ROSES CARE GUIDE
Your rose bouquet will first need a container in which to sit, so find a suitable vase or vessel to place them in. The roses will arrive in an acqua packaging or be carefully wrapped in celephone. The packaging will contain water which has provided them with refreshment on their journey, but they will be thirsting for some new water. You can chose from a selection of our vases to accompany your roses bouquet which will appear in the checkout or can be found by clicking here, Arena Flowers Vases.
When you have found your vase, you then need to add fresh water. Do not use ice cold water, as it is best to use water at room temperature. You will find selotaped to the acqua packaging or to the side of the box some flower food that needs to be added to the water. This food contains nutrients that will prolong the longevity of your bouquet. Empty the sachet of plant food into the clean water.
Next you need to attend to your roses. You will need remove the protective packaging and drain away the water. Remember to do this over a sink to avoid spillages
The flowers will be held together with string tied around the stems which holds the flowers in place. For red roses be careful as they may be a little thorny. Lay the flowers down on the side board or sink and cut about 3cm off the stems, ensuring you make the incision at a 45-degree angle with a sharp knife. This is to remove a layer that has covered the tips of the flowers which make it harder to drink the water.
In this process it is advisable to place your flowers in water very soon after you have cut the stems, as the cut stems will begin to heal over out of water, and then will be less able to absorb the water when submerged. If you are a dab hand at floristry or are familiar with flowers then you can cut the string around the flowers and then reposition the rose bouquet to fit your vase. Always keep the vase away from fruit, radiators, bright light and drafts.
Remember to take care of your roses. Bacteria quickly formulates in the water; which is harmful to your flowers, so every other day pour away the old water and use fresh clean water. Recut the stems before you return the flowers to their water.
Enjoy your flowers!
