- Sheen (Sheen Palace was later renamed Richmond Palace by Henry VII) was not listed in Doomsday Book, but is shown on Map as Sceon, its spelling in 950 AD.
- In William Shakespeare's "Richard III", and in "Henry VI Part III", Henry VII is referred to as Richmond.
- Opposite Railway Station is a bar called "The Bull" (which briefly changed to Edwards to "Edwards" and in 2008 "The Bull" was reinstated). In 1963 it was called the Station Hotel, a pub with a hall at the rear where bands used to play including Rolling Stones.
