Of course, flower fans are spoilt for choice in the beautiful area of Cornwall. First of all there's one of the earliest events in the gardening show calendar, the Cornwall Garden Society's Spring Show. Taking place in April each year, this event has been compared to the very well-known RHS Chelsea Show and provides an opportunity to showcase the best of Cornwall's horticulture, with over 100 stalls offering trade, shopping and workshop opportunities as well as stunning display gardens.

"The competitive classes provide the central breathtaking and colourful display of daffodils, rhododendrons and camellias."

It takes place at the beautiful Boconnoc Gardens which are well worth a visit at any time of year, with some of their stunning azaleas and camellias originating from the original 400 year old planting. They publish an extensive event diary - there's sure to be something to suit you.

In addition there are three days of flowers at the Royal Cornwall Show in June each year, including both demonstrations and display. It takes place in Wadebridge, at the designated Royal Cornwall Showground, and is part of a massive programme of events that also includes forestry, a countryside area and food and farming.

Eden ProjectEntry to the Flower Show is free on top of Royal Show entry and it includes competitions, exhibitions and possibly some surprises!

Cornwall has almost too many beautiful spots to mention but surely no trip would be complete without a visit to The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Under threat many times due to neglect during and after the war and the 1990 hurricane, the gardens now thrive thanks to a popular local and media campaign and attract kingfishers and nuthatches as well as grateful visitors who can still enjoy the flower gardens, the lakes, the Italian garden and the jungle area.

The Eden Project is another must-see. It incorporates plants, gardening and horticulture into its educational ethos, showing how humans can benefit from a relationship with beautiful, inspiring and relaxing nature.

Cornwall doesn't have an official flower although there are a few contenders, including gorse, rhododendron and Cornish heath. The Cornish heath or Erica vagans seems to be the most popular choice. It is a type of heather that blooms in late summer and early autumn, producing attractively clustered flowers ranging from lilac to deep pink. It's a lovely ground covering plant but is not suitable for cutting or displaying inside, so if you are looking for a bit of flower power in your own or a loved one's home, why not order from Arena Flowers? Our website is easy to navigate, our range is beautiful and bountiful, and delivery is quick and simple. Give the gift of flowers today.
