Purple flowers FAQs
Are purple roses natural?
Purple isn't a colour that naturally occurred in roses until a process called hybridisation was created. It's when flowers are selected for their desired properties, like colour, and crossed with another flower in the species to get the final result in the now 'hybrid' variety.
What other colours work well with purple?
Because purple can sit on both the warm and cool sides of the colour spectrum, there are lots of colours that work really well with purple. We love how this shade looks with yellow flowers (they're complementary colours, after all). One of our favourites is the deep indigo purple of irises, paired with bright and cheery sunflowers. We also think purple flowers with well with red for a vibrant contrast and blush pink for a romantic arrangement.
How can I keep purple flowers bright for longer?
As with most flowers, the key to keeping flowers in full bloom is to make sure they're kept away from direct sunlight and heat sources like radiators or working fireplaces.
