Herefordshire’s county flower is mistletoe, a plant regarded as magical since ancient times. We all know it as the plant you kiss under at Christmas, but its associations go back much further than that, its Druidic connections even described by Roman writers such as Pliny. While it’s found throughout the UK, mistletoe is most prevalent on the English-Welsh border. It loves growing in broadleaf trees, and while we’re used to seeing its white berries in winter, it flowers from February to April.
