A popular choice that never fails to impress, the gerbera is characterised by stunning and bold colours, as well elegant shapes that can allow each bouquet have its own special look. A fresh and cheerful bloom, the gerbera can add prominence and definition, be it at a wedding reception or as a focal piece to the family dining room. Wherever placed, gerberas provide style and colour throughout the seasons and have firmly become one of the most popular flowers worldwide.

Gerberas are known for their vibrant blooms and bold character. With shapes that resemble daisies, there are over 200 varieties, from serrated and frilly petals to double flowers and extra wide petals - meaning the possibilities are endless for that perfect gerbera bouquet. The smaller versions, called germinis, are ideal for adding a stylish touch to a bouquet and are a florists’ favourite due to their manageable and easy nature.

Drenched in history, the gerbera is named after German botanist Traugott Gerber and is sometimes called Transvaal Daisy, Barberton Daisy or African Daisy due to its exotic South African heritage.

For longevity, it is advised that gerberas are kept in a warm place with plenty of bright light. Additionally, if they have been newly bought, when placing in water their heads may need supporting when positioned in a vase. When placed in water, the position their head is in is where it will set.
