What is the flower of Brighton?
Part of Sussex, Brighton’s county flower is the round-headed rampion, or Phyteuma orbiculare. Also known as the Pride of Sussex, the deep blue round-headed rampion favours chalk grassland and is found throughout Europe. In the UK, it’s most prevalent on the South Downs.

Located in Palmeira Square, the Hove Floral Clock near Brighton is a local landmark. A working clock, it dates from 1953, when 35,000 plants were used to create the feature in celebration of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
